The Otsego Community Foundation (OCF) awards one of its amazing volunteers with the Kevin Reynolds Achievement Award each year. Kevin served as a board member for ten years, between 2005 and 2014. This award was established in 2014 and is presented to a board member who goes above and beyond their job description to serve the Otsego Community Foundation. Kevin set a high bar!
We are thrilled to announce that James Camiller is the 2023 Kevin Reynolds Achievement Award recipient. James joined the board in 2017 and quickly became treasurer and a member of the finance committee.
OCF Executive Director Dana Bensinger and Director of Donor Services Amanda Sosa wanted to surprise James with the award at his Gaylord office. It’s tax season. Where else would a CPA be? They were surprised not to see his truck in front of his office, then recognized it in the pick-up line at St. Mary’s school. James became the victim of a car line award ambush.
“What am I getting this for?” James asked. “I didn’t do anything to get this.”
The OCF staff disagrees.
“When I was hired in 2011, Kevin Reynolds was always only a phone call away, and that is just how James is. Through the pandemic and tornado, our small shop had an influx of work, including donations, financial decisions, etc. With his professional background, James helped us navigate new territory while always keeping the community top of mind.”
James is a trusted resource for OCF Administrative Assistant Patty Urban as well. “James is someone who I can go to with any question. He’s always willing to help and share what he knows.”
James juggles quite a bit in his busy life—a CPA practice with two offices, his marriage to Kari, three kids, two dogs, traveling, time at the lake, and his duties as Treasurer of the OCF Board. The fact that he was chased down in the school pickup line speaks to all the hats James wears. James has called Otsego County home for 23 years and is amazed by the generosity and commitment of its residents to make this community a better place.
Thank you, James, for sharing your time, expertise, and knowledge with the Otsego Community Foundation. You are helping to make Otsego County a better place.
